DS Automobiles, the French luxury brand born in 2015 as a spin-off of Citroen, has unveiled its latest creation: the DS 9. This flagship sedan is the brand's third model, after the DS 7 Crossback and the DS 3 Crossback, and the first to be exclusively produced in China. The DS 9 aims to compete with other premium sedans in the executive car segment, such as the Audi A6, the BMW 5 Series, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The DS 9 is based on the EMP2 modular platform of Groupe PSA, which also underpins other models such as the Peugeot 508, the Citroen C5 X and the Dongfeng Fengshen A9. However, the DS 9 has a longer wheelbase of 2.89 meters (113.98 inches), which gives it a more spacious and comfortable interior. The exterior design of the DS 9 is inspired by the DS concept cars, such as the DS Divine and the DS Aero Sports Lounge, and features distinctive elements such as the DS Wings grille, the DS Active LED Vision headlights, and the Clous de Paris guilloche pattern on the hood.
The interior of the DS 9 is a showcase of French craftsmanship and elegance. That of the DS 7 Crossback largely inspires the dashboard and features a 12-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, a night vision system, an active scan suspension, and a level 2 autonomous driving system. The seats are upholstered in leather or Alcantara and offer massage, heating, and ventilation functions. The rear passengers can enjoy generous legroom, USB sockets, and a central armrest with massage controls. Focal Electra provides a sound system comprising 14 speakers that deliver a high-quality audio experience.
